Solar PV
Solar Photovoltaic or Solar PV panels generate electrical energy from sunlight for use within your home or business. You can utilize the solar energy as it is being generated, store it for later use in batteries or sell the surplus to the grid.
Solar PV panels work in day light every day of the year even in winter or cloudy days. The amount of energy created is lower in winter due to shorter days but they will continue to produce electricity for your home.
A domestic solar PV system consists of a number of solar panels mounted to your roof and connected into the electrical loads within your building. The solar panels generate DC (direct current – like a battery) electricity, which is then converted in an inverter to AC (alternating current – like the electricity in your domestic socket). Solar PV systems are rated in kilowatts (kW). A 1kW solar PV system would require 3 or 4 solar panels on your roof.
Solar PV systems are low maintenance. Annual cleaning of the panels is recommended to keep them clear of any leaves or debris that block their ability to absorb energy. Solar PV panels have a lifespan of over 25 years.
SEAI Solar PV Grants
Individual SEAI grants of up to €2100 are available for Solar PV installations. The grant value is calculated on the total maximum output of the Solar PV system, measured in kWp. The grant value is €800 per kWp up to 2 kWp and €250 for every additional kWp up to 4kWp.
Solar Thermal
Solar thermal system produce hot water and the panels are known as solar thermal collectors. Typically systems are designed to meet 50-60% of you annual hot water needs and can in some cases contribute to meeting your space heating demand.
Solar thermal systems will continue to produce hot water in winter and on cloudy days albeit at lower effectiveness.
Why it is important to service your Solar Installations
Solar PV and Solar thermal systems are generally low maintainence however regular servicing is important to maintain the integrity of the system.

We also provide a Solar Panel Cleaning service to ensure they operate efficiently.
Our specialist team will carry out visual inspection of all components of the system to ensure there is no damage or wear.
Our team will notify you if any Faults or Repairs are necessary, and we can arrange for these issues to be resolved.
Benefits
Panels that are clean and free of debris will operate more efficiently as more sunlight can be absorbed. The location of the panels will be a factor in the level of debris, bird droppings or dirt from the surrounding environment. Leaves, dust or dirt should be cleaned from the surface of the panels to avoid any obstruction.
Regular professional inspection and maintenance will help you to fixing any issues before they become a bigger problem.
